Basketball Recap: Dooly County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jazlyn Hall and Ja'kayla Hooks

Dooly County lost against Wheeler County back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Dooly County Bobcats fell 55-46 to the Wheeler County Bulldogs.

Dooly County's loss came despite strong showings from Ja'Kayla Hooks and Jazlyn Hall. Hooks dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Hall almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Hooks is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Dooly County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive games.

Nikita James was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 15 rebounds for Wheeler County. That makes it ten consecutive games in which James has scored at least a third of Wheeler County's points. Another player making a difference was Makaylin Harvey, who posted eight points.

Dooly County now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Wheeler County, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-11.

Dooly County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-9 defeat against Wilcox County on the 25th. Wheeler County has also already played their next contest, a 57-29 loss against Telfair County on the 25th.
