It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the New Buffalo Bison ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 56-47 victory over Marcellus. The win was just what New Buffalo needed coming off of a 73-48 defeat in their prior matchup.
New Buffalo got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elliott Bourne out in front who scored 15 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds. Bourne is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Haskins, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
New Buffalo's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Marcellus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
New Buffalo will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Our Lady of the Lake Catholic at 7:30 p.m. Our Lady of the Lake Catholic is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Marcellus, they will head out on the road to face off against Decatur at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Decatur and Marcellus are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
