Platte Valley has gone 7-1 against Arlington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Platte Valley will look to defend their home field against Arlington at 4:30 p.m. Platte Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Platte Valley had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Palmyra on Monday. Platte Valley's pitcher stepped up to hand Palmyra a 12-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Platte Valley considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Jack Johnson made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Cael Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hunter Hatzenbuelher, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
Platte Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmyra only posted an OBP of .125.
Meanwhile, Arlington hadn't done well against Platteview recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Trojans 4-3.
Arlington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Frauendorfer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Those hits were Frauendorfer's first of the season.
Platte Valley pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Platte Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Arlington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Platte Valley's way against Arlington in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Platte Valley made off with an 11-0 win. Will Platte Valley repeat their success, or does Arlington has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
