The Maiden Blue Devils had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down West Caldwell 71-53. This was payback for Maiden, who suffered a 67-58 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Maiden was led to victory by Lincoln Frasure and Raheim Misher. Frasure went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 2 assists, while Misher dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Misher is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cross Arias, who scored six points along with two steals.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jay Maxwell, who scored nine points along with six assists and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Thomas, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Maiden's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for West Caldwell, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maiden will take on Bunker Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bunker Hill is coming into the match with six straight wins on the road, meaning Maiden will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for West Caldwell, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Lincoln at 8:00 p.m. West Caldwell is facing West Lincoln at the right time seeing as West Lincoln is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
