Even though Cocke County has not done well against the Cougars recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Cocke County walked away with a 53-44 win over the Cougars.
Cocke County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Blakelyn Clevenger out in front who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Halle Kitchen was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Morristown-Hamblen East scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. Everything went their way against Jefferson County as Morristown-Hamblen East made off with a 77-54 win. Morristown-Hamblen East has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 23 points or more this season.
Cocke County pushed their record up to 19-7 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
Cocke County came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hurricanes in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 56-54.
