The Old Saybrook Rams had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Valley Regional 58-42 on Friday. Old Saybrook's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Loss or not, Valley Regional got some senior leadership from Conor Quinn and Jack Driscoll. Quinn scored 14 points along with four steals, while Driscoll. almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Quinn has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Troy, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Old Saybrook's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Valley Regional, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Old Saybrook will face off against the Noises at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (Hale Ray is ranked 160th, while the Rams are ranked 164th). As for Valley Regional, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bellringers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
