Baseball Game Preview: Dallastown Wildcats vs. William Penn Bearcats

Dallastown has gone a perfect 7-0 against William Penn recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Bearcats at 4:15 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Dallastown came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Cumberland Valley, falling 8-1. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Dallastown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Seitz-Gemmill, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Ryland Neutzel also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between William Penn and South Western, and South Western kept the tradition alive. The Bearcats lost 13-1 to the Mustangs last Tuesday. The Bearcats haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Dallastown now has a losing record of 4-5. As for William Penn, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dallastown has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like William Penn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Dallastown took their victory against William Penn in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
