Walnut Hills hasn't had much luck against Lebanon recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will square off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Walnut Hills has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Walnut Hills is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Loveland on Monday. They lost 15-0 to the Tigers.
Meanwhile, Lebanon came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Warriors have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Sophia Sheidler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ella Tuebner and Sophie Abrams did most of the damage at the plate: Tuebner went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double, while Abrams went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, Abrams is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Jauch, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.
Lebanon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Lebanon's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Walnut Hills, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Walnut Hills suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Lebanon when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
