There's no place like home for The Sand Creek Scorpions, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 20-6 win over Canon City on Saturday. The victory was just what Sand Creek needed coming off of a 48-8 defeat in their prior match.
Sand Creek found their leader in underclassman Terrence Clay, who threw for 194 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes. Elijah Brotherns did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Canon City had strong showings from Matt Harms, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown, and Jake Adamic, who rushed for 59 yards.
Sand Creek's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Canon City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Sand Creek will look to defend their home field on Friday against Discovery Canyon at 7:00 p.m. Discovery Canyon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 271 points over their last six matches. Canon City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
