Basketball Recap: Patagonia's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Patagonia's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 54-45 win over The Gregory School Hawks. This was a revenge game for the Lobos: when they faced off against the Hawks back in November of 2024, they had to take a 45-34 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Patagonia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brianna Majalca, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. That's the most rebounds Majalca has posted since back in December of 2023. Valeria Castellanos was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten boards.

Patagonia was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The Gregory School lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zena Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lauren Mayer, who went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Patagonia's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12. As for The Gregory School, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Patagonia has already played their next matchup, a 39-29 win against Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind on the 22nd. The Gregory School has also already played their next contest (against Safford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
