Central Bucks West is 8-2 against Pennridge since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bucks will look to defend their home field against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Central Bucks West's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Pennridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Central Bucks West and Central Bucks South meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Bucks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Titans.
Stephen Verdolini looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Gavin Shiffler was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. Noah Gerstein also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Pennridge suffered their closest loss since April 16, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Souderton by a score of 6-4. The loss was the Rams' first of the season.
Pennridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Murray, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run.
Central Bucks West's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pennridge, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Central Bucks West has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pennridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Central Bucks West's way against Pennridge in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Central Bucks West made off with a 6-0 win. Will the Bucks repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
