The St. John Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 49-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Macksville. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. John in their matchups with Macksville: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aden Adame, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quade smith, who scored nine points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Macksville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hector Gomez, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Gomez posted two or more blocks. Diego Esparza was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
St. John's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Macksville, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their 13th straight on the road.
St. John will square off against Chase at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Chase comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Macksville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cimarron at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
