Southwestern is 2-8 against Waldron since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Southwestern Spartans on the road again and play against the Waldron Mohawks at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Southwestern came up short against Union County and fell 60-50.
Meanwhile, Waldron's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 56-37 to Bethesda Christian. While losing is never fun, Waldron can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while Bethesda Christian is ranked 117th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jack Fischer, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Lucas Shaw was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Southwestern's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Waldron, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Southwestern lost to Waldron on the road by a decisive 57-40 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Southwestern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
