Basketball Recap: Jay Skates Past Southwest with Ease

There's no place like home for Jay, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 61-22 victory over the Southwest Dragons. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Jay was led to victory by Shyniece Davis and Mikayla Garcia. Davis dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards, while Garcia went 8 of 18 on her way to 17 points. That's the most points Davis has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Annalicia Rosa, who posted two points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Jay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Jay is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Southwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-18.

Coincidentally, Jay and Southwest will both be playing Southside the next time they take the court. Southwest will host Southside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Jay will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
