After flying high against the Daleville Broncos last Thursday, the Shenandoah Raiders came back down to earth. Shenandoah was the victim of a tough 53-30 loss at the hands of North Decatur on Wednesday. Shenandoah found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 17 to 5 on offense.
Shenandoah lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Haley Hughes, who scored six points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rory McKnight, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
North Decatur's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ella Kunz led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Kunz's third in a row with at least ten points. Madi Allen was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds.
Shenandoah now has a losing record at 6-7. As for North Decatur, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shenandoah will finish 2023 at home by hosting Union at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Union focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday. North Decatur will finish 2023 at home by hosting Edgewood at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Hopefully Edgewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Friday.
