The Panhandle Panthers had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past Childress 59-34. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Panhandle also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2020.
Childress' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Neeley Oldham, who scored 6 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Jalomo, who scored 3 points along with 6 steals.
Panhandle's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Childress, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Panhandle will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on City View at 4:00 p.m. on December 9th. As for Childress, they will square off against Graham at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
