Peotone has gone a perfect 3-0 against Momence recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Blue Devils will look to defend their home field against the Momence Athletics at 4:30 p.m. Peotone's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Momence's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Things were looking good for Peotone after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Herscher by a score of 4-3.
Peotone saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mary Klawitter, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. Payton Schnelle was another, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Momence came out on top against St. Anne on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Momence Athletics blew past the Cardinals 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Momence Athletics, who have now won four matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Emma Varnak made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Varnak was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and one triple while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in runs (two).
In other batting news, Alexis Cook was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jaesyn Walk, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Momence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Anne only posted a batting average of .250.
Peotone has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Momence, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8.
Peotone got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Momence by a conclusive 17-0 score. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Momence Athletics turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
