The Falls City Beavers will head out on the road to face off against the Bremond Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Falls City comes in on eight and Bremond on six.
With a playoff game on the line, Falls City rose to the challenge on Thursday. They breezed by the Angoras at home to the tune of 55-22. Considering Falls City has won five games by more than 27 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Falls City found their leader in underclassman Braylon Johnson, who rushed for 212 yards and four touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 70 yards and two touchdowns on only four passes. Johnson's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Another player making a difference was Jacob Swierc, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Meanwhile, Bremond put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 55-13 victory over Sabinal on the road. Given Bremond's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 525th, while Sabinal is ranked 1053rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Koben Zan was his usual excellent self, rushing for 218 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 127 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Bremond also got a significant boost from Terrence Scott, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 108 yards.
Falls City pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.5 points per game. As for Bremond, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Falls City didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Bremond in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 40-36 victory. Will Falls City repeat their success, or does Bremond have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
