The Booker Tornadoes waltzed into their matchup on Friday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They walked away with a 64-56 victory over North Port. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Booker had a senior duo take command as Jovan Palavra scored 25 points and Jamareon Ruffin scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ruffin has scored all season.
Loss or not, North Port got some senior leadership from Brennen Ingle and Elijah Lubsey. Ingle scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Lubsey. scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Kinker, who scored a point along with nine assists and three steals.
Booker has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for North Port, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-8 record this season.
Booker will head out on the road to challenge Avon Park at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Avon Park will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 548th, while Booker is ranked 267th). As for North Port, they will be playing at home against Community School of Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Community School of Naples knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully North Port likes a good challenge.
