The New Site Royals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 25 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 66-36 blowout they got at home against Saltillo. The victory was some much needed relief for New Site as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Leading New Site to victory were Brooklyn Hodum and Chloe Chism. Hodum dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds, while Chism scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The game was Chism's 16th in a row with at least ten points. Ayla Stanley was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
New Site pushed their record up to 11-5 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.2 points. As for Saltillo, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Site will challenge Mooreville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mooreville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 254th, while New Site is ranked 78th). Saltillo is on the road again on Monday and play against South Panola at 6:00 p.m. on January 8th.
