The Valley View Eagles just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Great Oak Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. on December 27th. One thing working in Valley View's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.
Valley View fought the good fight in their overtime game against Linfield Christian on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 81-73 to the Lions. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Valley View saw an underclassman step up: Charles Knight scored 27 points along with nine steals and six rebounds. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jalyn Talbert, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Great Oak scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 86-45 stomp they got at home against Paloma Valley. That looming 86-45 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Great Oak yet this season.
Valley View's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Great Oak, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Valley View might still be hurting after the 60-40 loss they got from Great Oak in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Can Valley View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
