Basketball Recap: Aguilar Takes a Loss

Aguilar played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Walsh Eagles 65-30. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-19.

Aguilar's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Gonzales, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Gonzales is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Caiden Gomez, who posted 11 points.

Walsh found their leader in freshman Hudson Gourley, who went 10 for 14 en route to 27 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gourley has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Malone, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Aguilar is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4. As for Walsh, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4.

Aguilar has already played their next contest (against Manzanola), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Walsh didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-33 loss against Stanton County on the 14th.
