3A Mountain Rivers recap September 24, 2013
Sugar-Salem led 3A Mountain Rivers in scoring this week by notching 48 points on Marsh Valley.
South Fremont made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,075 from 8,578. The improvement was the result of 39-20 victory over the Cougars last week.
South Fremont's dynamic duo of Junior Gonzalez and Ryker Maupin proved tough for Firth to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gonzalez threw for 197 yards and 3 touchdowns and Maupin had 69 yards receiving. Tyler Barney helped South Fremont's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 61 yards.
Ben Hildebrand's team's dynamic duo of Gonzalez and Maupin proved to be unstoppable against the Cougars, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Maupin was the best wideout in the league this week as the Cougars fell to Firth.
He went 21-35 with 1 interception.
Gonzalez put up the best numbers through the air as South Fremont fell to Keith Drake's team.
South Fremont's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Gonzalez has thrown for 991 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Kade Schaat has 24 catches for 346 yards.
Teton had a great defensive game this week, leading the league in points allowed with 0.
