If Athens was riding high fresh off their 13-2 takedown of Decatur last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Athens fell just short of the Daniel Boone Trailblazers by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Athens saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Walker Fleming, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Daniel Boone, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3-1 record this season.

Athens has already played their next match, an 8-5 victory against Normal Community on the 26th. As for Daniel Boone, they will square off against Science Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
