Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, the Athenian Owls couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 71-61 to the Jayhawks on Saturday. Athenian has struggled against Head-Royce recently, as their game on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Athenian still got an impressive performance from Surya Devasenapathy, who scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Devasenapathy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Olivier, who scored 11 points.
Athenian's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-7. As for Head-Royce, their victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-4.
Athenian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Head-Royce also has no future games currently scheduled.
