Brynna Erdmann made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tessa Trippy, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March. Mia Heigh was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Auburn Mountainview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Decatur only posted an OBP of .333.
Auburn Mountainview is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Auburn Riverside, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Auburn Riverside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. However, it's not like Auburn Mountainview struggles in that department as they've averaged .552. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
