The East Chapel Hill Wildcats won the last time they faced the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves, and things went their way on Wednesday too. East Chapel Hill came out on top in a nail-biter against Cedar Ridge and snuck past 54-51. The victory made it back-to-back wins for East Chapel Hill.
It was another big night for Abigail Stone, who scored 28 points along with seven steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of East Chapel Hill's points. Another player making a difference was Zaiah Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Cedar Ridge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kate Finnegan, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Finnegan scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiyah Ware, who scored 16 points.
East Chapel Hill's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Cedar Ridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.
East Chapel Hill will look to defend their home court on Friday against Chapel Hill at 5:30 p.m. Chapel Hill is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games. As for Cedar Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on Person at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Person is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
