Potomac School has gone a perfect 10-0 against Flint Hill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Huskies at 11:00 a.m. One thing working in Potomac School's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five games.
On Thursday, Potomac School got the win against Georgetown Visitation Prep by a conclusive 11-2. Considering the Panthers have won 11 matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Catherine Stallmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Stallmer was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Schedler, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Leyton Mayrhofer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Potomac School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Flint Hill was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past National Cathedral 11-9. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.
Cate Stanley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Zaina Gilbert was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jane Stanley, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Potomac School pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Flint Hill, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Potomac School has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .584. However, it's not like Flint Hill struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Potomac School's way against Flint Hill in their previous meeting last Wednesday, as Potomac School made off with a 12-2 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
