Basketball Recap: San Clemente Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

San Clemente entered their tilt with Trabuco Hills on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They put the hurt on the Trabuco Hills Mustangs with a sharp 60-34 win. The Tritons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 23 points or more this season.

San Clemente was led to victory by Chase Tolliver and Desi Gutierrez. Tolliver dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards, while Gutierrez went 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Gutierrez a new career-high in points. Christian Fernandez was another key player, putting up three points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.

San Clemente was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trabuco Hills only posted nine assists.

Trabuco Hills lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tai Gan, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shoji Karst, who scored five points.

San Clemente is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Trabuco Hills, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Clemente will challenge San Juan Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Juan Hills has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 220 points over their last three matches. Trabuco Hills has already played their next game (against Dana Hills), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
