Attica is 1-9 against Covington since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Red Ramblers will be playing at home against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Attica is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Attica fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against West Central on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 7-6.
Luke Blankenship was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Blankenship is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Tristen Miller was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Covington got themselves on the board against North Putnam on Saturday, but North Putnam never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Cougars. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.
Kyven Hill was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Hill was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Creux Rieman was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Covington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Putnam struck out seven times.
Covington now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Attica, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Attica has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Covington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
