Two dominant signal callers in Kain Mincey and Jordan Wiggins are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Dodge County Indians will host the Northeast Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northeast will be up against a hot Dodge County team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Indians blew past Jefferson County, posting a 51-12 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Indians' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Warriors are ranked 384th).
Among those leading the charge was Jauriel Bray, who picked up 50 receiving yards and two TDs.
Dodge County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Terrance Fordham Jr led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Dodge County got some further help from Peyton Butts: he picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northeast, who bounced back after a loss on the road on October 3rd. They breezed past Central to the tune of 61-6 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won six in a row.
Dodge County better focus on containing Keandre Jackson and JaCorey Johnson as the pair were huge in Northeast's win. Jackson picked up 97 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while Johnson rushed for 69 yards and one touchdown. Those 97 receiving yards gave Jackson a new career-high. Reginald Glover got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Northeast proved: they limited Central to a paltry -1.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Tayvon Shivers for the heroic effort on defense: he. Northeast didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.5.
Northeast's defense didn't let WyQuayvis Gaither, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Amari White was especially locked on to Central's QB and sacked him twice. White is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last six games he's played. Another thorn in Central's side was Shivers, who made 13 total tackles (6.0 for loss).
Northeast's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Dodge County, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Dodge County might still be hurting after the 40-19 defeat they got from Northeast when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Indians were down 27-6.
