Basketball Recap: Mason Marriott's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kit Carson over Stratton

Kit Carson lost against Stratton back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Kit Carson Wildcats came up short against the Stratton Eagles, falling 52-32. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-14.

Kit Carson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Marriott, who posted six points and six steals. Marriott has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernando Ferrales-Fierro, who earned nine points.

Stratton was led to victory by Von Isenbart and Judson Isenbart. Von made all 6 shots he took for 13 points and three blocks, while Judson went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points. Those three blocks gave Von a new career-high. Jaxon Einspahr also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Kit Carson is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7. As for Stratton, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Kit Carson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-38 defeat against Evangel Christian Academy on the 1st. As for Stratton, they will head out on the road to challenge Deer Trail at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stratton has four straight wins, Deer Trail has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
