For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Somerville and Hempstead meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Yeguas fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 2-1. The Yeguas' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Somerville sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 15-25, 15-11.

Karys Ellis paced Somerville's offense, picking up eight kills. Ellis got some help from Anette Reyna and her 16 assists. Finally, Ellis was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Somerville's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Hempstead, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Somerville has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent on the 23rd. As for Hempstead, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Buffalo on the 23rd.
