The Alpharetta Raiders waltzed into their match Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They wrapped up 2023 with a 56-42 win over Hapeville Charter. Given Alpharetta's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Hapeville Charter is ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hapeville Charter's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonathan Goldson, who scored 18 points. The contest was Goldson's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keith Parker, who scored 12 points.
Alpharetta has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Hapeville Charter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
Alpharetta and Sprayberry will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hapeville Charter won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Warren County at 4:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023.
