Softball Game Preview: Parkland Trojans vs. William Allen Canaries

Parkland has gone a perfect 10-0 against William Allen recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Parkland Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the William Allen Canaries at 4:00 p.m. Parkland will be strutting in after a victory while William Allen will be coming in after a defeat.

Parkland is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against The First Academy. Parkland blew past The First Academy 14-6 on Friday.

Allison Hunsberger was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Ami Patel and Elizabeth Pinkham did most of the damage at the plate: Patel went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Pinkham scored three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Patel a new career-high in hits. Maria Moore was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Parkland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The First Academy only posted an OBP of .344.

Meanwhile, William Allen unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Wilson Area on Saturday, falling 34-0.

Parkland took their win against William Allen in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0. Will Parkland repeat their success, or does William Allen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
