On Saturday, The Gonzaga Eagles faced the St. John's Cadets in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Gonzaga fell just short of St. John's by a score of 23-20. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gonzaga in their matchups with St. John's: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Gonzaga had strong showings from Lincoln Fisher, who picked up 189 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Aidan Conrath, who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns.
St. John's got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Da'Jaun Riggs out in front who rushed for 39 yards and two touchdowns. Breyon Williams was another key contributor, gaining 132 total yards.
Gonzaga has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for St. John's, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-4.
Gonzaga will challenge Our Lady of Good Counsel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Our Lady of Good Counsel is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games. St. John's does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
