Castaic is 0-9 against Saugus since March of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:15 p.m. Castaic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Castaic will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Canyon, who they had gone 0-8 against in their eight prior meetings. The Coyotes' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cowboys a 4-0 shutout last Thursday.

Tatum McAfee made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
In other pitching news, Katelyn Eppenbaugh looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
McAfee wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Charlotte Wheeler, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Rylie Sitler also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saugus). They blew past Golden Valley 25-0 last Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Hailey Cox and Riley Nelson dominated on the mound. Cox tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Nelson tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Amelia Johnson was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Arguello, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Saugus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2025.
Saugus has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Castaic, their record now sits at 7-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Castaic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Saugus struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Castaic couldn't quite finish off Saugus in their previous meeting back in March and fell 3-1. Can the Coyotes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
