Brookfield hasn't had much luck against Champion recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Warriors will challenge the Golden Flashes at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Brookfield will bounce into Monday's game after beating Crestview, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rebels on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2.
Brandon Hardman was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hardman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Devan Reardon was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Champion put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Memorial. The Golden Flashes put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 21-0 victory. The Golden Flashes not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024.
Like Brookfield, Champion also got a great game from a two-way player: Konner Reed. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Reed was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zack Morris, who scored five runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Morris is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Dylan Howell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.
Champion's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Brookfield, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Brookfield might still be hurting after the 16-1 loss they got from Champion when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
