The Broad Run Spartans and the Loudoun Valley Vikings squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Broad Run Spartans had to settle for second. Broad Run was outmatched by Loudoun Valley on the road and fell 42-7. Broad Run just can't catch a break and has now endured five losses in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Loudoun Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Lafollette, who rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Lafollette has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Alex Johnson was another key contributor, rushing for 100 yards on only nine carries.
Broad Run bumped their record down to 3-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 11-0 Tuscarora and 8-3 Briar Woods (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.9% over those games). As for Loudoun Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Broad Run does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Loudoun Valley will take on John Champe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. John Champe is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
