Northside Christian is 0-4 against Liberty Christian Academy since April of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 5:00 p.m.
Northside Christian is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Madison Christian.
Noah Vanderwarker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Brumfield, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Monday. Liberty Christian Academy was the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over Delaware Christian.
Luke Mollohan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Liberty Christian Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise. Mollohan was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Mollohan wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dawson Kamppi, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Drew Fye also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Liberty Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delaware Christian only posted an OBP of .333.
Liberty Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Northside Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Northside Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Liberty Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Northside Christian couldn't quite get it done against Liberty Christian Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago as they fell 5-2. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
