The Estero Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Aubrey Rogers Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Estero is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.3 runs per game this season.
Estero hadn't beaten Naples on the road since March 29, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. Estero came out on top against Naples by a score of 18-14.
Estero got a great performance from Annika Jarvi as she struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Dena Peregrin was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Avery Sanchez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Estero kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Aubrey Rogers suffered their biggest defeat since February 25th on Thursday. They lost 16-1 to Bishop Verot. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Aubrey Rogers saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayline Martinez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Estero has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. Aubrey Rogers now has a losing record of 6-7.
Aubrey Rogers' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Estero has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Aubrey Rogers, though, as they've been averaging 9.2 hits. Given Estero's sizable advantage in that area, Aubrey Rogers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Estero was able to grind out a solid victory over Aubrey Rogers in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 12-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Estero since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
