The Xaverian Clippers will be playing at home against the St. Peter's Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Sunday, Xaverian came up short against Christ the King and fell 62-54. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Xaverian in their matchups with Christ the King: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, St. Peter's pushed their score all the way to 65 on Sunday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 78-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Archbishop Stepinac. While losing is never fun, St. Peter's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Archbishop Stepinac is ranked first).
Xaverian now has a losing record at 4-5. As for St. Peter's, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.
Xaverian couldn't quite finish off St. Peter's when the teams last played back in March of 2023 and fell 61-58. Can Xaverian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
