The Western SciTech Aztec Warrior 's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Southwest Leadership Academy 57-23. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Western SciTech in their matchups with Southwest Leadership Academy: they've now lost eight in a row.
Raja Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with nine rebounds and five steals for Southwest Leadership Academy. Williams is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Gonzales, who scored ten points along with six steals and five assists.
Western SciTech's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7. As for Southwest Leadership Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western SciTech will take on South Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest Leadership Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Alta Vista Charter at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th. Alta Vista Charter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 224th, while Southwest Leadership Academy is ranked 82nd).
