Softball Recap: Garland Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

It was a Battle of the Birds when Garland faced off against Rowlett on Monday. The Owls walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Owls sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Natalie Arent made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Mady Key was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Melody Alarcon was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double.

Garland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Garland's record is now 13-5-1. As for Rowlett, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-14-1.

Garland has already played their next match, an 11-1 loss against Wylie on the 8th. As for Rowlett, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-0 win against Lakeview Centennial on the 8th.
