Bella Urbina made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Those five runs gave Olmedo a new career-high. Savanna Hernandez was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Bishop Conaty-Loretto duked it out with Hawthorne on Saturday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 8-5.
Like St. Monica, Bishop Conaty-Loretto also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaslyn Sigaran. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Sigaran has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Kaylah Araujo was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Antonio, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
St. Monica's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Bishop Conaty-Loretto, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Both St. Monica and Bishop Conaty-Loretto just can't seem to miss. The Mariners have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Bishop Conaty-Loretto struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Monica was able to grind out a solid victory over Bishop Conaty-Loretto in their previous matchup back in March, winning 11-8. Will the Mariners repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
