Hempstead hasn't had much luck against Weimar recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bobcats will take on the Wildcats in a tournament on Thursday. Hempstead will be strutting in after a win while Weimar will be coming in after a defeat.
Hempstead is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Somerville by a score of 13-8 on Monday. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Yeguas recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Max Lopez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Ben Mayes was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those runs were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden DiIorio, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Hempstead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Somerville only posted an OBP of .436.
Meanwhile, Weimar didn't have quite enough to beat Anderson-Shiro on Saturday and fell 10-8.
Brady Janecka made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. Ty Rerich was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Weimar's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Hempstead, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Hempstead might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Weimar in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
