The Houston Academy Raiders waltzed into Friday's matchup with three straight wins but they left with four. They didn't even let Pike County onto the board and left with a 10-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Houston Academy also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Kadyn Mitchell threw for 107 yards on 11 of 17 attempts. Riggs Hickey was his top target, picking up 44 receiving yards. On the ground, Brady Whigham rushed for 107 yards.
Houston Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Abbeville and 2-8 Northside Methodist Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30% over those games). As for Pike County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Houston Academy will head out on the road to face off against Alabama Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alabama Christian Academy will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. Pike County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
