Baseball Recap: Vance Charter Takes a Loss

After flying high against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability on Friday, Vance Charter came back down to earth. The Knights fell 11-6 to the Franklinton Red Rams on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 back in March.

Shawn Thomas Journigan was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Vance Charter: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

Vance Charter has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Franklinton, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-9.

Looking ahead, Vance Charter will face off against South Granville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Franklinton, they will take on Bunn at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Red Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
