The Branson/Kim Bearcats will head out on the road to face off against the Cheyenne Wells Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Branson/Kim knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Cheyenne Wells likes a good challenge.
Branson/Kim can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. They blew past La Veta 80-54. Branson/Kim pushed the score to 68-34 by the end of the third, a deficit La Veta cut but never quite recovered from.
Branson/Kim can attribute much of their success to Brock Doherty, who gained 272 total yards and five touchdowns, and Kolter Cranson, who rushed for 314 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 18.5 yards per carry. Cranson's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
Meanwhile, Cheyenne Wells put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Genoa-Hugo 69-38 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 54-24.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cheyenne Wells to victory, but perhaps none more so than Perry Chadwick, who threw for 166 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Scheler, who gained 117 total yards and three touchdowns.
Branson/Kim's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points per game. As for Cheyenne Wells, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as Branson/Kim and Cheyenne Wells haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Branson/Kim commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.2 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Cheyenne Wells struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.2 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Branson/Kim was dealt a bruising 41-8 loss at the hands of Cheyenne Wells in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Branson/Kim, Ty Scheler (who rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 37 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
