Dayton Timbreza made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Braydan Hartman and Parker Shahan did most of the damage at the plate: Hartman went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Shahan went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those hits marked the first that Hartman has got this season. Andrew Lynch was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Grand Junction Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Eagle Valley was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They came up short against Holy Family, falling 10-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Devils were not able to get on the board.
Eagle Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Grand Junction Central, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Grand Junction Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eagle Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Grand Junction Central's way against Eagle Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Grand Junction Central made off with a 17-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
